Reviews
We decided to go to the Canopy Club on Tuesday Night. It was my first time, here.
What an incredible venue, located near the U of I Campus!
It Turned Out, that it was Hip-Hop Open Mic Night! (Every Tuesday, Night)
We enjoyed the performances of all of the Aspiring Hip-Hop Artists...especially,
EDOT CARTEL, who performed, his latest Original Music! (See posted photos)
A 'Summer Camp' event, was taking place, on the Club's, Main Stage, in the adjacent auditorium. A great, large space, with theater style seating available.
We watched the Aspiring DJ's perform back to back shows. The unique combinations of music and the incredible video and light shows, created a sensory overload! Very Entertaining!
Attendees danced until closing time, on the large open dance floor.
I loved the atmosphere, and observed that every performer, whether an Aspiring Hip-Hop Artist, or Aspiring DJ, could bring their own unique style to the stage, and feel welcome to express themselves, in a positive, inclusive environment!
This club is such an asset to have, within walking distance of the University's Campus!
This place fails to realize although it’s a bar we will still buy drinks there…. Charging $30 to get in an event when it’s not even a celebrity there is so stupid and not cool bc their drinks are mad expensive 😒
I attended a show here that was put together by Punchline, starring some great acts. This place seems to be the driving force behind Chambana's music scene.
I went with some friends to their Latin night event on Cinco De Mayo and ended up having a bad dizzy spell (it happens to me every once in a great while since I was a kid). I could feel that it was coming, so I told my friends that I was going to step out and tried making my way outside for some air before my vision started to go completely dark and I could barely hold myself up. I think I remember grabbing on to some random guy just to keep myself from collapsing onto the ground completely, so if you’re reading this poor stranger, I’m really sorry. Thankfully security saw that I wasn’t feeling good almost immediately and walked me outside to one of the benches in the smoking area, asked for my name and made sure I was okay. I can’t remember his name, but the head of security was so kind and as I sat there getting my bearings back he would check in with me every couple of minutes. Luckily I regained lucidity pretty fast after they helped me outside, and I’m so grateful to all of security for helping me at a time when anything could have happened to me, being a woman separated from her group in a crowded club. I have a feeling that security at other bars like Kams or Lion would be nowhere near as vigilant or quick to respond. If I had had a dizzy spell at one of those locations, they would have definitely tossed me out and mistaken me for just some drunk girl. I’ve seen them do it before, but canopy club security obviously holds themselves to a higher standard. Just wanted to write this review to say thank you to them.
Had a fantastic time seeing "Ben Folds and a Piano". The venue is PERFECT for an intimate feeling to see an artist and is near great parking and food options. Can't recommend highly enough.
Came here for a show, tickets were affordable and the show was great.
Canopy club is ran by a shady management group, Jay Goldberg Entertainment. My debit card was fraudulently used by one of their bartenders at Nola's Rock bar before they closed, posting $150 of charges over 3 days. When I confronted the bar staff they "found" my card tucked behind the register and claimed to know nothing about it. I reported them to the police and myself and the police were given the run around by Jay Goldberg Entertainment for two months, who strung me along with lies about checking their security footage before eventually telling me to sort it out with my bank. I've had multiple friends tell me they had stuff stolen at canopy club. This entertainment group hires shady people and does nothing to help their customers when their shady employees do shady things.
You people are sick hosting an all ages drag show. Children shouldn’t be present, especially when you say that there will probably be adult content. Are you going to remove the kids from the room during that portion? No, because y’all are sick and the parents that take there children to see you are creeps.
